Improving Care Options for Children in Ethiopia through Understanding Institutional Child Care and Factors Driving Institutionalization

This report describes a study developed through consultations between the Ethiopian Ministry of Women's Affairs, FHI, and UNICEF. It is the first study of its kind to take an in-depth look at institutional care in Ethiopia. The overall objective of the study was to understand the scope of the information on institutional care practices in Ethiopia, as well as the quality of this information and the gaps therein, with the purpose of informing efforts to improve the quality of alternative care--including institutional care--for children in Ethiopia
